Depression is a Dog of a Thing
32Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:32-33, King James Version)
3Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5, King James Version)
Comforter the sheepdog has been plodding away. He has learned to read ok - thanks to the holy bible. Having also taught himself to use Farmer Shepherds trusty notebook computer, his bible reading has gone a little downhill! Comforter can't quite believe that the whole bible can be presented as one hyper -linked page in his browser! He has become a bit lazy and found himself using biblegateway keyword search - a bit like Google for the bible!
Anyway, If you recall, Comforter felt that he needed more that the clinical/medical help he had been getting for his depression - someone to talk to. Now talking to some people doesn't come cheap! Psychiatrist/Psychologist at $100-$200 per hour - sheesh!
While browsing online, Comforter came across Mission Australia. He read their mission statement:
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me...
just as you did it to one of the least of these... you did it to me"
(Matthew 25:35-36)
Stay tuned!
